Friend,

Last week, the US Supreme Court heard oral arguments on a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks. If the Justices side with Mississippi, it will end Roe v. Wade and leave abortion law up to the states -- effectively banning the procedure in 26 states.

Here in Iowa, we know all too well that women's reproductive rights are far too important to be left up to Republicans in the state legislature. Earlier this year, they passed a law in an attempt to "clarify" that Iowans have no Constitutional right to abortion.

In a floor speech, I shared the story of my wife Amelia's ectopic pregnancy. The best case scenario was that she would lose her ability to be pregnant, and at the worst, she'd lose her life.

It was a harrowing experience for us both, and I'm glad we had a choice to protect her life. That choice isn't always available to all women, and will be legally restricted in many states if SCOTUS sides with Mississippi.

Today, I'm urging the US Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act -- a bill recently passed by the House. It protects the right to access reproductive care at the federal level.

Will you add your name next to mine in support of the Women's Health Protection Act? I'm aiming to get 1,000 supporters signed on in support by tonight. We must support women's reproductive rights in the face of this challenge.
