   John -
At the start of his presidency, President Biden vowed to make climate a
top priority. He said his administration would lead an "ambitious plan" to
combat climate change and that there’s “no time to waste.”
But now, Biden is proposing reforms to the country’s oil and gas leasing
program that would “raise costs” for companies to drill on public land –
but not end fossil fuel leasing on public lands.^1 This is not the type of
policy a "Climate President" pushes forward,
   John.
So it is up to our movement to hold the Biden Administration accountable
to deliver on bold climate action — starting with banning new leases on
   public lands.
President Biden needs to hear from our movement on this critical climate
issue — please add your name to the petition and make your voice heard:

fuel leasing on public lands, please add your name to our petition today.

Since 1920, the government has been selling coal, oil, and gas on federal
land to the highest bidder. But the science is clear: we absolutely must
keep fossil fuels in the ground if we are going to stop the worst effects
   of the climate crisis.
If he wanted to, President Biden could end all offshore drilling with the
stroke of a pen – preventing disastrous oil spills and helping accelerate
the transition to renewable energy (all without interference from climate
   deniers in Congress).^2
Fossil fuel extraction on public lands and waters is a significant share
of America’s climate emissions. According to a 2018 U.S. Geological Survey
study, federal drilling accounts for nearly a quarter of U.S. carbon
   dioxide emissions.^3
President Biden needs to keep his promises and rise to the challenge of
the moment – that starts with banning drilling on federal lands.

Can you add your name today to our petition calling on Biden to keep his
climate promises and ban new leases on public lands?
   Thank you for taking action.
