CCC updates: Read our assessment of COP26 key outcomes. Stay tuned for next week's Scotland Progress Report

Hello,

We have two key updates for you from the Climate Change Committee.

Just published: COP26: Key outcomes and next steps for the UK

Yesterday, we published our independent assessment of the outcomes of COP26 and critical next steps for the UK in driving progress internationally and domestically on climate action. The report includes new recommendations to the UK Government on efforts that can be made in the UK, such as strengthening delivery of the Net Zero Strategy and through stronger actions to tackle the UK’s wider carbon footprint. The assessment also considers recommendations on the UK's international role in the year ahead, such as ensuring key climate finance commitments made in Glasgow are delivered transparently.

Coming up: Scotland Progress report 2021 - 7th December

The CCC will publish its annual stocktake of action to reduce emissions in Scotland on Tuesday 7th December. This report provides the Scottish Parliament with the CCC's 2021 assessment on progress towards emissions targets based on analysis of the latest Scottish Government policies and announcements. The report provides key recommendations on the next steps required to deliver Scotland's ambitious 2045 Net Zero target.

Please do join our Chief Executive, Chris Stark, and the Committee's Scotland Champion, Professor Keith Bell, for an overview of our assessment, followed by an audience Q&A. This will take place online at 10:00 on Tuesday 7th December.
