Commemorating the Anniversary of the Tree of Life Synagogue Attack with Words to Action Trainings
On the one year anniversary of the tragic shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA, ADL with the support of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and in partnership with the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia, convened local community leaders and student activists for an engaging discussion and training on how to confront anti-Semitism in their everyday lives. Our intention is to continue expanding this initiative, better equipping Jewish communities throughout Northern Virginia with best practices and resources to confront anti-Semitism and hate when they encounter it.

ADL Shares Its Analysis on Trends of Anti-Semitic Incidents With 60 Minutes
ADL released new figures indicating that the number of incidents against Jews and Jewish targets in the United States reached 780 in just the first half of this year. At least a dozen white supremacists have been arrested for such shootings, plots and threats since the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history a year ago, at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.

ADL Launches Major Initiative, Backspace Hate to Confront and Combat Hatred on Online
Online hate stokes fear, silences voices and causes harm to people’s personal and professional lives. Backspace Hate is ADL's campaign to support victims and targets of online hate and harassment. We’re raising awareness about the consequences of cyberhate and advocating for measures to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions online, including by improving state and federal laws. We need better laws, more education and increased support for victims and targets. Sign our petition to tell lawmakers that we have to do more to combat online hate and harassment. Working together we can backspace the hate and make room for good.

Maryland School Leadership To Expand Requirements For Holocaust and Genocide Education
We have a solemn obligation to learn the lessons of the Holocaust, and we all hold the responsibility to ensure that never again will any people be the target of genocide. ADL is encouraged by the steps taken by the Maryland Superintendent to ensure the history and lessons of the Holocaust are taught in classrooms across the state. And we are grateful to The JCRC of Greater Washington and The Baltimore Jewish Council for their leadership in building a strong coalition to advocate for this important curricular guidance.
