After a long weekend lighting candles, sharing meals with friends and family in person or over zoom, supporting small businesses, end enjoying some gray and rainy fall weather, I hope you feel grounded, comforted, and recommitted to leading with our values. I sure do.

Legislative session is just around the corner, and I'm putting the finishing touches on some of the bills I'll file early — pre-filing begins next Monday 12/6! In this 60 day session, I'm focused on an equitable recovery for the people of the 26th and across Washington State. To me, that means ensuring that we're providing the tools and services families need to build strong lives and futures. An equitable recovery means strengthening trade education and ensuring apprenticeship grads also graduate with a transferrable associate degree. It means investing in the ferries, roads, and bridges we use to get to work, the doctor, to school, to see family — especially in regions like ours that have so long received under-investment. It means providing a little relief to the the hardworking families who pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than the richest Washingtonians and big businesses who helped build our upside-down tax code in their own favor.

I'm ready to get back to work to serve you in Olympia. Not just for the 2022 session, but for another four years. I have an effective track record  — introducing more than 50 pieces of legislation that have been passed in bill or budget form, 90% with bipartisan support.

I do this work because I know what it means to real people. I know what good government meant to my family when I was in junior high, and my mom, who had just re-entered the workforce after being a full-time mom to three kids — one with complex disabilities and intense medical needs — got laid off. It was right around this time of year, the holiday season. Programs like Medicaid and the Earned Income/Child Tax Credit ensured we could get by as my mom worked so hard to find her career fit. More than 20 years later that experience sticks with me, and is why I've worked so hard on health care issues and why I was proud to vote to finally fund the Working Families Tax Credit — our state's version of the EITC.

If you believe, like I do, that Washington State can do more to support our neighbors, friends, and family — chip in. Jesse Young and the Trump-aligned Republicans are coming for this seat, and I can't hold onto it without your help. I need to raise $966.59 by midnight. Can you help?
