Dear John—

More than 10 years ago, I was shot while meeting with constituents at a “Congress on Your Corner” event. My road to recovery has not been easy. But since that day, my personal mantra has been “move ahead.” As we move ahead together in the fight against gun violence, I hope I can count on your support.

Most of my goals require the support and help of many others. This is certainly true of our fight to save lives from gun violence—progress is only possible if we work together.
