— IN THE PAST WEEK —

Dear Neighbors,

It is with bittersweet feelings that I write this message, as it is my
final Week in Review during my tenure as your New York City Council Member.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve for these past eight
years and fight for our fair share City resources to ensure the quality of
life of our communities for decades to come. During this time we have
celebrated some great wins, endured painful losses, and have come together
to recognize our wonderful blessings through countless gatherings across
our wonderful district.

I leave this position knowing that I have done all I can to care for and
advocate for Northeast Queens. As we look to the future, I know that we are
in great hands with the many deeply involved groups and individuals who
have worked with us to create the Council district that we see today. I
will always look back fondly on my time in your service, and I am deeply
grateful that you chose me all those years ago.

Thank you and farewell,
Council Member Paul Vallone

Serving 8 Years as Council Member

On December 31st, 2021 Council Member Paul Vallone will end two full terms
of service as the Council Member representing District 19 in the New York
City Council. His tenure marks a transformative decade in the history of
Northeast Queens securing record funding for infrastructure and programs in
our communities and ensuring that our district is on firm footing for the
decades to come.

The Council Member created groundbreaking programs to provide services to
seniors in our community, such as the Senior Medical Transportation
Program, that transformed the way that seniors in our lives accessed care.
He also worked hard to ensure that growing immigrant communities in our
district were able to access government services and effectively work with
the city to remedy deep inequalities that have been present for
generations. He was also able to secure full funding for the first new park
and school in our district in over half a century to alleviate the
overcrowding in schools that has been a persistent problem for parents,
faculty, and students.

Vallone deeply valued community and family, and realized early on that
public life could contribute a great deal to building strong neighborly
ties. He has organized and funded fireworks each year to celebrate the 4th
of July at Fort Totten, he has organized a Children's Christmas Parade down
Bell Boulevard and helped secure funding for dozens of holiday celebrations
throught Northeast Queens, and during the pandemic he organized safe and
socially distanced drive in movies across our district to ensure that even
in the darkest times we were able to gather and celebrate together.

The Council Member has secured over 160 million dollars in 8 budgets; 3200
new school seats (the most since 1960) with new district wide personalized
educational point of contact plan with every school; thriving and growing
first ever free senior transportation network throughout the borough,
expanded funding and support for our small business districts, secured
largest expansion of officers at our 109th precinct and most security
cameras installed in any district, founded new district wide annual
community events and our office worked hand in hand with our community and
civic groups to bring immediate action and attention to every concern.

Outside of our district, the Council Member passed a number of bills that
impact all sectors of life in New York City. He mandated that each borough
have an animal shelter to ensure that families had access to the services
provided and that there were more spaces to care for animals in need. He
mandated protections for senior citizens across our city that ensured their
health and saftey. He also served as the chair of the Economic Development
Committee during the period of some of the most amazing growth and
incredible projects from the New York City Economic Developmet
Corportation.

The past eight years have been transformative for our city, and Council
Member Paul Vallone has worked tirelessly to ensure that our communities
were an equal part of that transformation and growth.
