I hate to email you over the holiday weekend, especially since I've already sent you a couple of messages this week about my campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

But the truth is, this period of the Democratic primary is *very* important. We must show as much early momentum as possible, and how much money we raise is a big part of that. So I have to ask:

Look, I fight like hell for Pennsylvania, and I *always* have. I’ve fought for the same things for the last 20 years, as Mayor of Braddock and now as Lieutenant Governor. I haven’t had to "evolve" over time on the issues.

When state law banned marriage equality, I officiated one of the first gay marriages in Pennsylvania. When Braddock was overlooked and counted out, I made sure our community was heard. When the Pennsylvania GOP sent the flag police to take down my weed and pride flags from the state capitol, I put them back up.

I know that No Dem Left Behind only stands behind candidates like me who have proven that they will fight for working-class folks -- so I'm beyond honored that they've recognized my work and endorsed me as one of their Senate candidates alongside Rep. Tim Ryan in Ohio and Rep. Val Demings in Florida. And what do all of these open Senate seats have in common?

They are all states where Republicans think that they have the advantage, states with underrepresented rural districts, and states with a history or likelihood of voting red. These are key battleground states where Republicans will be dumping millions to try and win.
