John, we’re coming up on our big November fundraising deadline, but before I ask you to chip in, let me tell you why your support means so much to me and our whole team.

For more than 20 years, I worked as a doctor specializing in women’s health. I sat with patients who had to make difficult decisions about their pregnancies, single moms who had to take multiple buses to access healthy food, and people whose pre-existing — sometimes life-threatening — conditions prevented them from getting health insurance to help them afford the care they needed.

Those years in operating rooms and exam rooms taught me a lot — including the limits of what I could do as a physician. But the hard truth was that so much of what was impacting my patients’ health couldn’t be fixed in the exam room or hospital. It was impacted in ways that I couldn’t fix as a doctor. I couldn’t solve these problems for my patients, so I decided to do something about it.

That’s when I decided to jump into the fight for health care reform — helping pass the Affordable Care Act and expanding health care to 23 million Americans, some for the first time in their lives.

And as great as that was, I knew there was still so much more that needed to be done, so I decided to run for office — and yes, my pre-teen kids were just as thrilled as you might guess they would be by that.

But they came around by the time I became Chair of Pennsylvania’s third largest county, and we’ve managed to tackle a lot of these problems in the five years since. We’ve secured paid parental leave and a $15 minimum wage for county employees. We’ve put the County on track to go 100% renewable. And we’ve worked together to get through the pandemic, from standing up testing sites and getting vaccines in arms, to distributing grants that have helped local businesses keep their doors open.

We’re taking on problems each and every day, and I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished in Montgomery County, but just like I knew after the fight for the ACA, I know there’s a lot more work to do.

I’m ready to get to work and deliver that kind of progress for all of Pennsylvania and our country. That’s why I’m running for U.S. Senate.

Our workers and families are counting on us to make some real progress on tackling climate change, pass paid family leave, and raise the minimum wage. As I’ve traveled the Commonwealth, they’ve told me these issues keep them up at night and it’s time our officials in Washington got to work to fix them. I’m ready to get to work on Day 1.

So here’s that request I promised: If you want to see a problem solver in Washington, will you help me get there? I need you to donate toward our end-of-month goal to help send me to the U.S. Senate to get things done for Pennsylvania. I can’t get there without you.
