Join us Saturday Nov. 27 to discuss the challenge facing 500 California towns — rural, suburban and urban — who have only until Jan. 1 to set down SB 9 rules to soften the effect on 22 million Californians in single-family homes.

We’ll hear from real estate broker Tracy Thrower Conyers warning that Google ads by investors already seeking homes to turn into SB 9 projects.

And an incredible presentation by Redondo Beach Mayor Bill Brand, all about ONV, the Our Neighborhood Voices initiative aiming for the Nov. 2022 ballot.

Did you know it is really rewarding to gather 1,000 signatures for a ballot initiative you believe in? Strangers want to sign these petitions because they can't believe what SB 9 does:

  • SB 9 gives builders “by right’ power to “upzone” more than 7 million R-1 properties to build four houses where one home now stands.
  • Californians don’t KNOW their neighborhoods are in the crosshairs due to media silence.
  • On desirable streets, demolitions and construction could begin in the New Year.
  • If a builder gets an “over-the-counter” approval after Jan. 1, but before a city adopts an SB 9 Local Standards Ordinance, the builder can ignore local standards and just build.

As of Jan. 1, 2022, SB 9 allows:

  • Fourfold density on fire evacuation routes! (Seriously)
  • Fourfold density in small towns short on water!
  • Car-share businesses but not garages. Just hire a car to get the kids to school!
  • Builders can wipe out “defensible space” around homes in severe fire zones!
  • Builders can destroy your urban tree canopy, the key weapon against climate change!

We are little guys up against very deep pockets who dreamed up SB 9. We would so appreciate your donation to fight back, and we thank you so much!

Final thoughts:

Due to misreporting by Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and others, we fear that towns in fire severity zones believe the false advice from Terner Center, that they can opt out of SB 9. They can’t. Terner Center refuses to correct its grave public disservice. Go here to determine if your address is in or near a fire severity zone.

Have a great Thanksgiving and we’ll see you on Saturday!
