Amazon publicly pledged to raise its minimum wage and working standards for its workers to the celebration of many, but a significant amount of their workers are hired through contractors -- meaning that they aren’t eligible for these new standards.
The U.S. prides itself on our high expectations of working standards and workplace safety, but years of deregulation, lack of oversight, and big money in politics have left American workers unable to unionize, ask for living wages, or provide for their families. Democrats need to step up and defend our workers so that they too can live up to the American Dream.
