In the past two weeks, DC has been repeatedly embarrassed by scandals - from the resignation of Mayor Bowser’s DC Housing Authority Chair after allegations of corruption, to the hiring of a disgraced former health commissioner, and now questions over the mayor's appointment of a top political ally.

 

This is what happens when the current leadership prioritizes political loyalty over expertise. These scandals hurt our city’s credibility. And I worry this is just the tip of the iceberg.

 

It’s time for new leadership. If we are going to build back from the pandemic as a stronger, more equitable city that serves our most vulnerable residents, then we need ethical and effective governance.
