Promise Night 2019!
https://www.americaspromise.org/event/promise-night-2019
From the original spoken word performances by the Duke Ellington Students to hearing from the evening’s outstanding honorees to the dinner and celebration, Promise Night 2019 was a night to remember! America’s Promise is grateful for the generosity of everyone who attended, and we thank the Duke Ellington School of the Arts for allowing us to host the gala at their state-of-the-art facilities. Beyond the celebration of our past progress, Promise Night allows us to continue - and grow - our important work on behalf of the nation’s young people.

For those who couldn’t make this year’s Promise Night, we hope to see you at Promise Night 2020! In the meantime, let’s keep working together to connect every young person with the Five Promises: caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education, and opportunities to serve.

Roundtable Recap: Hopi Ancestral Lands
https://www.americaspromise.org/yes
In their first-ever youth-employment roundtable, the YES Project at America’s Promise teamed up with the Ancestral Lands Hopi Program to bring together local organizations, policymakers, and business leaders together to make bold commitments to help connect young individuals in the community with career opportunities. During the two-day convening, young people spoke of the barriers they face to finding meaningful employment, while key members of the community identified employment opportunities for these individuals. Targeted sessions focused on helping young people build an effect resume and learning important job application and interview skills.

This roundtable was the first of four Fall Roundtables hosted by America’s Promise. Up next: Chicago, where Thrive Chicago will focus on changing the narrative around retail employment by informing young people of the pathways outside of customer service, including human resources, marketing, information technology, and more.
