"Opinion: Progressives can no longer cede school board to the GOP. They should treat them as political arenas to fight -- and win."

Hey John,

We can't be complacent here: Too many people I talked to after Election Day said the GOP failed in their school board takeovers.

They didn't. The thing about the GOP? They don't do single-cycle work -- this is simply the next phase of a long-term strategy that they are constantly refining and tuning to build and keep power. School boards are the level of government that is closest to peoples' hearts and heads. That's why we want to triple down on our school board efforts.

Chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to recruit and support diverse young progressives to school boards -- and stop the right-wing takeover of our kids' classrooms.

Republicans are literally dumping tens of millions of dollars on and urging supporters to run for school board on anti-vax, anti-science, and anti-history platforms. They are building for more than a cycle -- they're building a wave that will get them power for decades. Bad news for them, Run for Something won't let it continue.

Most national organizations don't pay attention to school board races -- they’re difficult, messy, and they happen all year round. They’re small and easily ignored, but their impact ripples into larger-scale elections every cycle. They’re also universal: School boards hold elections in big urban cities and small rural communities and everywhere in between.

Run for Something has always worked on these races and is one of the few national organizations dedicated to finding, supporting, and electing diverse young progressives to school board seats -- even when it has meant losing major donors' support. Doing this work is literally a gamble because it's cost us support before. So if you believe in electing diverse young progressives to school boards, please show it with a donation of $5 or more.

We were MADE for this fight. We can win. We can build long-lasting power.

Let's go,
