Kyle Rittenhouse is walking free today. Yes, the Republican teenager who crossed state lines to murder protesters who were exercising their first amendment right on the streets demanding justice for Jacob Blake, a Black man shot in the back by a cop.
Rittenhouse is a known white supremacist, but videos of him joyously drinking with his Proud Boys buddies were banned from the trial. We can thank the biased right-wing judge, Judge Schroeder, who himself was caught making racist comments in the courtroom during the trial during one of the intermissions.
Anger, helplessness, resentment, all emotions that are acceptable right now. Hopelessness is not, out of respect for all those that have been wrongly treated by our judicial system we cannot and must not give up.
Judge Schroeder has run SEVEN consecutive times UNOPPOSED. This is just another example of how complacency in our judicial and political system yields dangerous results.
We MUST remember this moment today and change that. He’s just one of the many far-right extremists on the bench. It’s time we take action and start cleaning up.
