** THE GIVING SEASON

MCN's programs are in full swing. As we begin our Muslim Youth NYC fellowship, we're excited to have recruited 15 youth across New York City to take part in this program which immerses them in civic organizing. Check out the photos from our orientation.

Keeping to the theme of youth; our October food drive was in partnership with the Gambian Youth Association. We're happy to have served 219 families with food bags that were filled with fresh produce and groceries. Big shout out to Salim Drammeh for his partnership. In addition, we commemorated Domestic Violence Awareness month by sponsoring a luncheon at the ICNA Relief DV shelter which helped boost the morale of our sisters and their children.

MCN conducted a diversity education presentation with teachers from the Park East High School in Manhattan. We spoke to 50 teachers who attended the session to learn more about Islam, help shape their narrative on our faith, and how to respond to their school's Muslim student body. A big thanks to principal Suzy Ort for reaching out. To request a Diversity Education presentation for your school, workplace, or institution, please message us at [email protected]

And finally, we held our quarterly Muslim Stakeholders Roundtable discussion. This month, we focused on how Muslim CBO's in New York City can respond to the Afghan refugee crisis and assist them in their journey. We heard from our own stakeholders, Women for Afghan Women, Arab American Family Support Center, and Islamic Relief USA; as well as from guest speakers who are working direcly with refugee assistance, the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Charities.

With the month of giving coming up, we would be most grateful for you to make a kind gift to us so we can continue to grow and deepen our programs. As you can see, our we are bringing people together; educating the larger public; and investing in our youth and communities. Consider investing in us. Moreover, there are many ways to give; Volunteer with us, Donate, Give us a shout-out on our Twitter ([link removed]) and Facebook ([link removed]) , give us a like and follow our work!
