Friend–

Steve Bannon just turned himself in to the FBI.

If you have been following the proceedings of the January 6th committee as closely as we have, this news might come as a surprise. The rest of Trump's big-name coconspirators have been content to dodge subpoenas and run out the clock.

Here is why Steve Bannon surrendering is such a big deal.

The rest of them – Flynn, Eastman, Stepien, Miller – are watching the Bannon proceedings closely. None of them wants to go to jail. So if Bannon skipped out, or Justice lacked the will to prosecute him, they knew they had a free pass. What incentive would they have to cooperate? None. They knew they could just wait out the committee until midterms.

Now they can't just skate, thanks to the work Merrick Garland and Biden's Justice Department are doing.

We have a grassroots movement of over 3 million people. To a person – every one of you knows that there has to be justice for what happened on January 6th.

You know that we will always call out hypocrisy or insanity. We will hold anyone and everyone who stands against our pro-democracy movement accountable. But that also means lifting up the people who are doing the hard work to keep our democracy safe and standing up for what's right. This is one of those chances.

Join me and add your name: Thank Merrick Garland for bringing justice back to the Justice Department.

Let's show him and everyone that there are tens of thousands – hundreds of thousands – of Americans who actually care about justice being served.

More is coming. The truth will continue to trickle out. It's up to them to keep up the pressure.

We are watching and no matter what happens, all of us will act together.
