Dear Angelenos,

Our 3-day virtual event Strength and Love, The City of Angels’ COVID-19 Memorial begins next week, and we’d love for you to join us.

The memorial will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 through November 20, 2021 to:

  • HONOR those who held our city together, including first responders, essential workers, small businesses owners, community organizations, caregivers, neighbors, and families.

  • REMEMBER those we have lost to the pandemic.

  • MOBILIZE to give back to our communities and work together to build a stronger and more resilient city.

This memorial will give us an opportunity to reflect on our collective experience during this pandemic, recognize the resiliency of our city, and come together to create a better future for every Angeleno.

Here are a few ways that you can get ready for next week:

  • Download and share FREE Strength and Love posters! Show L.A. love by displaying the posters in your home or business window. You can also print the posters and fill in who you are honoring, who you are remembering, and what you are mobilizing for during the memorial. You can download them here.

  • Share how you plan to participate in the memorial on social media. Use the digital tool kit to post about who you will be honoring and remembering and how you are mobilizing for L.A. Access digital tool kit here. Don’t forget to post online and tag #StrengthandLoveLA.
  • Set a reminder for the nightly activations at 8 p.m.

    • Thursday, November 18: CLAP for our city’s heroes outside with your friends and neighbors.

    • Friday, November 19: LIGHT a candle in your window.

    • Saturday, November 20: WAVE a flashlight or phone light outside to make L.A. shine.

  • Plan your visit to the memorial installation at the Griffith Observatory. A white flag installation will be placed on the front lawn of Griffith Observatory to commemorate those we’ve lost in L.A. County. It will be open to the public November 18-20 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our community partners, neighboring cities, elected officials, and iconic L.A. institutions.

It is inspiring to see how many partners have signed up to participate in this memorial. We recently added Union Station, Banc of California Stadium, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, and Homeboy Industries as partners. If you would like to partner with us, please fill out this form.
