Dear John,

MCV and our partners across Maine have been working for months to pass the Build Back Better Act because it will transform our society — from historic climate action and paid family leave, to affordable childcare and healthcare.

This Saturday, we’re all coming together to call on Congressman Golden to support this once-in-a-generation investment before the House takes its first vote. We anticipated a vote last week, but Rep. Golden and others initiated a delay. Thank you to the dozens of Mainers who called Rep. Golden’s offices to urge him to support the Build Back Better Act last week — your advocacy makes all the difference.

Now, we invite you to join us to help show Congressman Golden just how deep the support is for these measures that are urgently needed in Maine communities, and to finally get this bill across the finish line.

The Build Back Better Act will:

  • Bolster resilience and natural solutions to climate change through historic investment that will put the United States on course to meet our climate targets;
  • Create an early child care and education system for families with the largest expansion of free education and child care since states and communities across the country established public high school 100 years ago;
  • Build new and stable homes for hundreds of thousands of the country's lowest-income people and weatherize up to 1 million affordable homes;
  • Provide 39 million households up to $3,600 in tax cuts per child by extending the expanded Child Tax Credit;
  • Begin a bold, inclusive family and medical leave program that is poised to guarantee every worker in the country paid leave to care for themselves and their loved ones; and
  • Implement the biggest expansion of affordable health care in a decade.

I hope to see you Saturday!
