John, we’re scared for Ohio and our country.

Ohio GOP lawmakers proposed an abortion ban that echoes the ban created in Texas. But to be quite clear -- this one is worse.

House Bill 480 allows anyone to sue a doctor who either performs an abortion or someone who aids an abortion. This fine could be at least $10,000 per abortion. This is a huge step back for women in Ohio and as progressives, we must do everything in our power to stop HB480 from passing.

Ohio’s proposed bill goes a step further than the law in Texas by banning all abortions rather than ones afters a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Thanks to Trump, we have a conservative majority in SCOTUS and our reproduction is under more attack than ever. We knew that when Texas passed their abortion ban that states would follow suit. These bans will disproportionately impact people of color, people who are non-binary, and people who are low-income.

There are countless reasons why people get abortions. The only thing that matters is that people have a choice over their bodies. We must ensure that women are able to have access to safe, affordable, and reliable reproductive healthcare where they live.
