Spotlight: Nancy Cotton
Nancy Cotton is no stranger to a good story. A thirty-year veteran of the television industry, she has brought compelling stories to life on screen, from David Kelley's award-winning THE PRACTICE to Lena Waithe's groundbreaking THE CHI to the riveting intrigues of THE AMERICANS. And along that rich journey to tell a good story, she has become a mentor, cutting a path for many passionate young executives to follow.

She also cares deeply about building a better, more progressive, more equitable city and state. In addition to serving on LAANE's Advisory Board, Cotton serves on the board of the I Have A Dream Foundation and has helped organize local events for Close The Gap California, which works to achieve gender balance in our state legislature.

In 2014, Cotton bridged her worlds of television and activism by co-founding Small Talk | Big Change, an annual event celebrating young executives, such as Dorothy Fortenberry, Alana Mayo, and Chantal Nong, who are changing the landscape of Hollywood, while introducing industry guests to the critical work LAANE does across LA to change the landscape for working families. We are beyond proud to honor her with the Gary Stewart Entertainment and Integrity Award on Thursday, December 2.

Currently, as Executive Vice President, Head of Scripted Programming for the EPIX network, Cotton has overseen the development and production of all EPIX's original scripted series, including GODFATHER OF HARLEM, starring Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, DC origin story PENNYWORTH, and Ed Burns’ coming-of-age BRIDGE AND TUNNEL.

WITH SPECIAL PRESENTER

Ed Burns
Ed Burns is a prolific actor, writer, director and producer. While working as a gofer at Entertainment Tonight, he financed, produced, directed and starred in his first film THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN in his spare time, which was largely shot in his hometown of Valley Stream on Long Island. He went on to star in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, LIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT, and CONFIDENCE, among many others. Burns wrote, directed, and produced the EPIX dramedy BRIDGE AND TUNNEL, a series set in 1980 that revolves around a group of college grads setting out to pursue their dreams in Manhattan while still clinging to the familiarity of their working-class Long Island home.
