Friend,

A lot of the press and political pundits spent this week opining on how education was a defining issue in Virginia's election on Tuesday. As a former counselor, coach, and student support worker -- as well as a father of two daughters, and the husband of a teacher -- here's why I believe they're (mostly) right and what we can do about it:

It's simple: What's best for our kids is what's best for our state. If we're not doing right by our kids, little else matters. Right now, far-right politicians are sowing fear and division about what's being taught in our schools because it paints an easy target for parents' rage at a system that's failing too many of our kids.

If you agree that we need to push back on the far-right's fearmongering to truly put kids and schools first, chip in $3 right now. Otherwise, keep reading about how my opponent Kim Reynolds puts corporate and private interests first when it comes to education.

Public education is central to Iowa's heritage: The slogan on our state quarter is literally "Foundation in Education" -- a tribute to the fact that Iowa was once home to the best public schools in the country.

But right now, Reynolds and the rest of the GOP would rather put corporate and private interests first by cutting budgets and siphoning money from Iowa's public schools.

I've seen this firsthand as my wife Amelia has been forced to drastically increase her workload -- teaching at multiple levels due to a lack of staff.

We have a plan to get Iowa schools back to #1, but right now we need your help getting the word out about our campaign to more Democrats and undecided voters. Chip in $3 today >> [link removed]
