John, WE DID IT! A giant red wave swept through New York Tuesday night giving us huge victories across the state. From Long Island to Erie County, Republicans dominated Democrats, flipping major seats in key areas. Even Democrats are describing it as "a shellacking on a thumping." We achieved what no one thought was possible, which was the defeat of the dangerous ballot propositions that would have destroyed honest elections in New York. The impact of our victory in stopping these measures from being enshrined in our state constitution cannot be understated. This was a hard-fought effort and we crisscrossed the state, traveling to more than 40 counties to inform voters about the importance of stopping Democrats from legalizing rigged elections here in New York. We flipped the Nassau and Suffolk District Attorney's seats red, along with the Nassau Comptroller and Nassau County Executive. In "deep-blue" New York City, we won the Staten Island Borough President's race and won 5, possibly 6, City Council seats, giving us the largest delegation since Rudy Giuliani's mayoralty in the 1990's. In the Hudson Valley, we won the Rockland and Orange County Executive races and flipped two county legislative seats in both Westchester and Dutchess. In Sullivan County, we flipped a town supervisor seat from blue to red. In the key suburb of the capital region, Colonie, Republicans wiped out the entire Democrat slate of officeholders. Ditto for Broome County, where we elected a Republican mayor in Binghamton and swept the three countywide offices. In the Mohawk Valley, we won a key supreme court justice seat, delivering another crushing defeat to former Congressman Anthony Brindisi. We held our majority in the Monroe County legislature and won two key town supervisor races. In Erie County, we won the hotly contested sheriff's race and working with a broad coalition of voters, stopped socialist India Walton from becoming mayor of the City of Buffalo. When I became Chairman of the NYGOP, I promised you that I would tirelessly to rebuild this Party. We have a lot to celebrate, but our work is far from done. We need to capitalize on these victories and keep the momentum going into 2022 when we need to accomplish our ultimate goal of electing a Republican governor. This is the only way we will truly change New York and put it back on a path to prosperity, public safety and freedom. I am so energized and hopeful about the future. This proves that when we are united and organized, we can WIN. We left everything on the field in this election and now we must immediately start rebuilding our coffers for the 2022 statewide, midterm and legislative elections.
