The flow of money into General Assembly elections hit a frenetic pace with one week to go before Election Day.

Here are three ways we are helping the public keep up with record-breaking campaign contributions:

1) Posting the Final Full Disclosures

VPAP has posted the final pre-election campaign finance disclosures from candidates running in next Tuesday's elections. The reports cover activity from October 1 - 24.

2) Providing Historical Context

It used to be rare when candidates' combined spending in a state legislative race topped $1 million. We're now seeing individual candidates raising $1 million in a month. Later today, VPAP will release a data visual putting this year's spending in historical context.

3) Keeping Up With Large Donations Reported Daily

The pre-election reports cover activity through October 24, but candidates are required to report donations of $1,000 or more by the next day. Overnight, candidates reported more than $1 million in large donations. VPAP will continue to update these numbers daily.

This last-minute contributions can indicate which races political parties are targeting.
