The nation's eyes are squarely focused on Tuesday’s election and who will be the next governor of Virginia.

But there’s so much more at stake than just what’s at the top of the ticket. Virginians will also be electing each of the 100 Delegates in the Virginia General Assembly -- the leaders who write the laws that decide the direction of our Commonwealth.

That’s why I’m writing to you today -- to support my friend, Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates and a tireless representative for the people of Fairfax, Del. Eileen Filler-Corn.

Eileen’s accomplishments as Speaker over the last two years are many: She led Democrats in the fight to increase the minimum wage, abolish the death penalty, and expand early voting. That is real progress, folks. 

Republicans, led by Glenn Youngkin and his deep war chest, have been investing heavily in down-ballot GOP candidates aimed at wresting the Speaker’s gavel away from Eileen and into the hands of right-wingers who will reverse our progress. We can’t let that happen.

Virginians spoke resoundingly in 2019 and 2020 when they came out to deliver a strong Democratic majority in our Commonwealth. But because we have one of the shortest legislative sessions in the country, there’s still much more to do to reverse some of the harmful right-wing policies that still exist in Virginia.

Put simply: We have a lot more work to do to keep Virginia on the path to progress. And Eileen needs our help to get it done.

All eyes are on Virginia right now. Let’s show the nation we’re ready to keep moving in the right direction.
