The chaos of our supply chain crisis is destroying American access to vital goods. Walking through grocery stores, shelves are empty, and trying to order online is an exercise in patience.
This is not unexpected - the COVID-19 pandemic hit our global supply chains especially hard, and as we recover from the virus, rebuilding systems that took decades to build isn’t easy. But it is necessary, and to do so takes action, which Joe Biden seems unwilling to provide.
Moves from Biden like paying people to stay home in his “recovery” package have exactly the opposite effect we need to get workers back on the frontlines. When shipping companies have to compete with the U.S. federal government to hire workers, why are we surprised hiring is difficult?
What’s more, Biden’s enforcement of tougher standards on the oil and gas agency, amongst other actions he has taken, have made it more and more costly to power shipping vessels, trucks, and airplanes, driving up the price to move goods from one place to another.
What exactly is Biden doing to fix the mess he made worse? Very little. It seems that as long as he personally isn’t having to go without, the rest of us can deal with the empty shelves.
