Dear Ward 8 Residents:

I am pleased to see the consistency and dedication of the Ward 8 Commission on LGBTQ. My office formulated this Commission in June 2020 to focus on issues affecting Ward 8 's LGBTQ residents and businesses entities.

The Commission on LGBTQ seeks to promote acceptance of LGBTQ (Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Questioning) diversity, and to foster respect and appreciation for each member of the community residing in Ward 8.

The Commission has supported my office in the following ways:
* Identify and recommend legislation to correct inequities that may exist in hiring, business, housing, social service, public safety, et al.
* Provide recommendations for special efforts and strategies to maintain and enhance diversity in the Ward.
* Assist in the development and implementation of programs to address the needs, interests, and concerns of LGBTQ and allies.
* Periodically review policies to assess non-discrimination issues and recommend corrective action to the Council of the District of Columbia and The Mayor's Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Affairs (LGBTQ)

I would like to thank Abdur-Rahim Briggs, Chair of the Commission for his leadership and support. For more information on how to join this Commission and the work they are doing on behalf of Ward 8, email, Wendy Glenn at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

Peace & Love,
