John,
October will be over shortly, so I’m reaching out today to ask you to make a contribution to my campaign’s end-of-month fundraising goal. [[link removed]]
The deadline is set to expire in a few days, but before it does — I hope that you’ll give me a moment to explain why reaching our goal is so important:
Growing up, I watched people monopolize our local, state, and federal levels of government, and sell empty promises to their constituents — while using their power and influence to benefit themselves and their wealthy friends.
I ran for office to create space for folks who grew up like I did — in Section 8 housing and on food stamps — and to work on behalf of New York’s 17th Congressional District — the very community that raised and shaped me into the person I am today.
Since starting my term in January, I've fought tooth and nail to deliver legislation on urgent issues. I have co-authored provisions of both the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, and recently I muscled a truly universal child care program through the House Education and Labor Committee for inclusion in the final Build Back Better Act.
This is life-changing legislation that will greatly improve the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans, but I know that the work doesn’t stop there. I am also fighting to urge the Senate to abolish the filibuster, so Democrats can pass critical legislation without obstruction from Republicans.
There are a lot of tough battles ahead, but I’m ready to take them on and create a government that uplifts every American. Chip in $5, $10, or even $20 to support my re-election campaign today. [[link removed]]

As the first openly gay, Black member of Congress and a person from a working-class background, these issues are deeply personal to me.
Every day, I fight for those who’ve felt unseen by their elected officials — and I won’t stop working for economic, racial, gender, LGBTQ+, and environmental justice.
Thank you for supporting our movement, and I look forward to our work together ahead of the election.
Onwards,
Mondaire
