Friend --

Now through Sunday, October 24, we're collecting petition signatures outside the State Fair (in Raleigh) near the various fair entrances. In the past, we've paid to have a table inside the fairgrounds, but due to several factors, especially Covid and high costs, we decided to petition outside the fairgrounds near high foot traffic.

Please let us know if you can help with this effort. The NC State Fair continues today through Sunday, October 24, and typically goes from 8am to 11pm or midnight each day. The peak times are noon through 8PM. So far we've collected many signatures since the start of the fair, but we need your help in these final days of the State Fair.

Can you come out and petition with us? (If Raleigh is too far away, you can go to a high foot traffic area, event, farmer’s market or large campus, like a community college, and get signatures as well.)

We want to pair volunteers, and it would be best if an experienced petitioner or officer can be paired with a volunteer who's still learning the ropes. NCGP officer Wayne Turner and others will be petitioning, and Wayne will be at the fair Friday and Saturday from 3–6pm. Please call or text him to meet with him outside the fair to get petitioning materials: 919-491-3186.

Here's more info about the fair, including dates/times and a map (pp. 6–7) that shows all the entrances: [link removed]. The Carter-Finley Stadium complex off Trinity Road has free parking and is a 5–10 minute walk to the fairgrounds. Additional free parking can be found on various streets surrounding the fair, particularly on Hillsborough St. just east of its intersection with Blue Ridge Rd. Please bring hand sanitizer, several ink pens, (provided if petitioning with an NCGP officer), and some sort of light source if petitioning past 7PM.

Resources and ways to help:

- Download our petition sheet and guide: [link removed]

- Remember to make at least 20 copies (one-sided only, our apologies) for events like the state fair. When someone is ready to sign just before they sign, confirm the county they are registered to vote in, use a sheet with that county listed at the top and have them use the address that they are registered to vote in

- Get your NCGP T-shirts and hats: [link removed]

- Join our Slack group—this is the best way to connect with other NCGP petitioners: [link removed]

- Make a donation to support our drive: [link removed]
