Hi John,
Unstoppable. Dynamic. Supported. Brave. Poised. Compassionate.
The 2021 GLSEN Respect Awards was an opportunity to hear directly from the young people lifted through your support. This event amplifies the voices and honors the experiences of LGBTQ+ students and alumni—their needs, hopes, and dreams.
“One of the biggest things we need as young people is connections. Somebody saying I am here. And I will fight for you.”
When students feel safe at school, when they know they’re not alone, when they see themselves reflected in the stories and curriculum, they thrive and flourish. At GLSEN we’re fighting for even greater safety, equity, and affirmation for every LGBTQ+ student.
John, you have the power to create a better world for the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth.
“I grew up in poverty in Mexico, we didn’t even have running water. And then I was walking the halls of The West Wing of the White House. Somebody believed in me. Somebody gave me the resources and said I will be here for you. And GLSEN can be that organization for so many young people.”
For almost 30 years, GLSEN has improved the lives of literally millions of LGBTQ+ students and educators in ways both big and small. The Respect Awards helped us all understand the past, present, and future of this incredible organization.
But that future doesn’t happen without your support!
