DEA, local police, and tribal agents all agree - most of the fentanyl coming into North Dakota is coming from gangs allowed to flourish in poorly policed liberal areas, and fentanyl is by far the most deadly opioid in the United States.

The sad state of affairs in Detroit and other Democrat cities is at least partially attributable to the de facto defunding of the police department there, thanks not to progressive scheming but to economic reality. The city slashed the police budget during a bankruptcy in 2014, and the crime problem in Democratic cities has only grown since then.

Even when police budgets are cut for understandable reasons, the results are disastrous. The situation in liberal cities is a tragedy, with effects rippling out for thousand of miles. Anybody still championing Defund the Police should be ashamed of themselves.

Radical Progressives’ fixation on defunding the police might be well intentioned, but their naivete has the potential to create even more real harm. As long as the far left extremists hold sway in Congress, we can expect dangerous rhetoric and policies to continue.
