John, climate change is real, and it’s directly affecting people in Westchester and Rockland Counties. In our district, Hurricane Ida damaged homes, destroyed small businesses, and tragically, took four lives.
Yet, Senator Joe Manchin is actively hindering Congress from addressing climate change in President Biden’s Build Back Better Act.
Low-income communities and communities of color experience climate change the worst. Across our country, these communities are exposed to polluted air and live in communities that lack basic infrastructure like weather-proof housing and public transportation. But it doesn’t have to be this way, John.
Human activity plays a major role in the climate crisis, and it’s time for Democrats to come together to ensure the Build Back Better Act addresses our biggest challenges and helps us make progress in our fight against climate change.
We have a narrow majority in Congress, so every Democrat needs to step up and fight for our climate goals.
Our most vulnerable communities are experiencing the worst of the climate crisis, and it’s shameful that politicians are turning a blind eye to it. It’s time to push Congress to ensure a livable future by taking action on climate.
