Team —
The House recently voted to temporarily raise the debt ceiling, putting off the risk of the U.S. defaulting on our debt until early December.
So while we’ve avoided financial calamity for the time being, this fight will be back in the news in just a few short weeks. And I can already tell you that Republicans won’t be any more helpful in resolving the crisis in December than they were this time around.
Friends, the answer here is simple: Eliminate the debt ceiling entirely.
It’s time to get rid of this arbitrary spending cap entirely so no political entity can hold our economy hostage. Do you agree that we should eliminate the debt ceiling? [[link removed]]
YES [[link removed]] NO [[link removed]] Under the Trump administration, Mitch McConnell and the Republican party ran up the bill with tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. Now, the GOP won’t lift a finger to pay for their agenda. The repercussions of defaulting on our debt would cause a global economic crisis and untold hardship to millions of Americans who are still recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. It’s shockingly irresponsible for anyone who was elected to serve the people to play politics with the debt ceiling.
The easiest way to ensure that Republicans don’t drive our economy into the ground for political points? Stop kicking the can down the road year after year and eliminate the debt ceiling entirely.
Do you agree that Democrats should vote to get rid of the debt ceiling once and for all, friends? [[link removed]]
