John --

I'm writing about three things -- redistricting, Riverside Park, and ramping up for 2022.

Redistricting:?The independent redistricting commission has multiple draft proposed maps for the State Senate, State House, and U.S. Congress that you can take a look at here. Please take a look at how your community has been represented in these maps <[link removed]>. If you have suggestions for how to make sure your community is better served or how the commission can ensure better partisan fairness in the maps, please submit a short public comment at this link <[link removed]>.?

The commission has a public hearing on October 20 from 1 - 8 p.m. at TCF Center in Detroit (there is a break from 3:30 - 5 p.m.). Please consider attending to share your thoughts with the commission!

Riverside Park/Ambassador Bridge:?Please read and consider signing this petition <[link removed]> launched by the Hubbard Richard Residents Association urging the Detroit City Council and Mayor Duggan to reject a Riverside Park land deal that would allow the Ambassador Bridge to build a new span without any negotiated community benefits for the Southwest Detroit community.

Please note there are conflicting approvals of a new span -- the US approval says the existing bridge must not be demolished and the Canadian conditional approval states that the existing bridge must be demolished. This is a major discrepancy and residents deserve to know what the plan is for this new span (Is it proposed to be a replacement or a twin span? There is a big difference) and deserve quality of life protections and strong community benefits if this land transfer takes place. Please support Southwest Detroit community leaders who are raising their voices by signing this petition <[link removed]>.

Ramping up:?With new district lines being developed and most likely some new communities in my future district that will not be as familiar with my track record and work ethic, I know I will have a lot of work to do on the campaign trail next year. While we are waiting on final district lines, I have been ramping up my fundraising so that I will be able to have a strong re-election campaign in 2022. This month alone, I will have had four fundraising receptions! If you are interested in hosting a small fundraiser in the next few months, please let me know.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

P.S. This Wednesday is the last day of the campaign finance quarter and a donation from you could really help us meet our goal! Can you chip in $5, $10, or $25 today? <[link removed]>
