Friend,

The hot topic in Congress right now is the reconciliation package which plans to tackle a number of long-standing priorities. I strongly support many of these - for instance, I am a leading advocate in Congress for closing the Medicaid coverage gap and have been a strong supporter of tax credits to promote renewable energy.

However, the challenge is the cost and scale of this change and how much to do at once. The Child Tax Credit (CTC), in its current form, would cost over $1 trillion over the 10-year life of the bill. If we have to scale the overall package down to $1.5 trillion, the CTC alone could consume almost the entire allocation.

There are many ways we can adjust these policies to focus on need or to phase them in, but in the end, we will have to make some hard choices. I’m curious about your priorities. Today, I want to hear from you about which policies you think should be prioritized in the reconciliation package (pick three): [link removed]
