John,
We have made great strides in recent years towards affirming LGBTQ+ rights. Despite our recent progress, LGBTQ+ people still face violence, higher rates of homelessness, and a higher risk of contracting HIV.
As a member of Congress, my highest priority is to keep every American safe and healthy — and as the first openly gay, Black member of Congress, I understand how the health and safety of LGBTQ+ people are constantly under assault.
I also know we have the power to change that.
Yesterday, I was proud to share that I recently introduced the PrEP Assistance Program Act alongside Rep. Watson Coleman. This legislation will ensure every person in need of PrEP — lifesaving medication to prevent HIV — can obtain it, regardless of their ability to pay.
This is a matter of both LGBTQ+ and racial justice. LGBTQ+ people, especially those of color, still suffer from HIV at a disproportionate rate — a reflection of already-existing economic and health disparities.
We still have a lot of work ahead, but with this legislation, we are making progress in that ongoing fight — and bringing ourselves one step closer to eradicating HIV/AIDS.
If you can, please consider making a contribution today to support my re-election campaign to ensure I can continue fighting in Washington for LGBTQ+ equity. [[link removed]]

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, this work is deeply personal to me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work on this critical legislation to protect the health and safety of LGBTQ+ people.
Thank you for your support,
Mondaire
