Team,

Did you get a chance to read David's Op-Ed on Facebook's moral failures in CNBC this week?

If so, you might be thinking about leaving Facebook. Of course, it’s easier said than done — the nature of a monopoly means there’s nowhere else to go. But Facebook’s abuse of your data presents a serious danger to our democracy, as we all know by now.

But as David and his Republican colleague Rep. Ken Buck wrote in their op-ed, allowing this monopolistic behavior to continue is a policy choice.

That’s why the House Judiciary Committee passed the Access Act, which will allow users who choose to leave Facebook to take their data with them. Congressional action doesn’t have to be difficult — we already have bipartisan solutions on the table.

Of course, Facebook will fight this tooth and nail, since they make money off the data of individuals — including children. Since they have a tight grip on the news that comes across your feed, we need to fight against their control over information by reaching out to folks directly.

That’s why we’re funding rapid response efforts to set the record straight — whether next week brings another whistleblower, a Congressional hearing with a big tech executive, or a data breach, we want to be able to reach out to folks directly, outside of the algorithms that dictate the news cycle in your social media feeds.

It’s critical that Congress take action to stop the overreach of tech monopolies like Facebook. Will you contribute to fund our rapid response efforts to fight misinformation coming from Facebook about the Access Act? [[link removed]]
