We talk a lot about how Barrier to Entry provides cash assistance to working-class candidates facing socioeconomic barriers so that they can run successful campaigns.
But I want to echo Megan’s email from yesterday and underscore the importance of the training component we provide. Building progressive campaigns means investing resources and time into the actual talent behind these people-powered movements, making sure they feel prepared, valued, and energized. And, it also means making room for people of color, people who are LGBTQ+, and people from low-income backgrounds.
That’s why our first-ever group training retreat last month was so impactful: Our team is a reflection of our values and what we want our Party to look like.
It was nothing short of inspiring working with this inclusive team of progressive campaign staffers from all over the country and having the opportunity to leverage their talents so that they can bring their skills to help working-class candidates win races.
I’m looking forward to bringing together more progressives and those looking to break the barrier into the Democratic campaign space with further trainings -- but in order to do that while still providing our BTE candidates with crucial financial aid, we need to hit our fundraising benchmarks. That’s where you come in.
