New Orleans DSA - Weekly Update

Hello,

Happy Striketober! At our last General Meeting, our chapter voted to stand in solidarity with IATSE (the union behind film and television workers) in their current negotiations and potential strike. Unless an Agreement is Reached, IATSE Members Will Begin A Nationwide Strike on Oct. 18 at 12:01 a.m. See press release from IATSE international HERE. If this strike goes forward, New Orleans DSA members plan to show up in solidarity at one of the IATSE picket lines in town Monday morning (Oct 18). Follow our social media to stay up to date as details unfold and to find out where you can show up to join us and support the strike! Please email [email protected] with questions!

And our October General meeting is next Saturday! Join us October 23rd at Noon, all are welcome and you can register for the call HERE. This is our monthly chapter wide meeting where we’ll hear updates from our various organizing efforts, and we’ll take up formal business and make collective decisions about the political work we are doing.  Also at this month's general meeting, we'll be holding elections for several important internal leadership roles! If you'd like to nominate yourself or another member, or learn about the open positions, check out This Link on our website. All positions are elected for a term of one year. To submit a nomination, email us [email protected]

Not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society. If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join today!
