Hi there – it’s been another unbelievable week on Capitol Hill, and I wanted to touch base with you on where things currently stand.

In a serious breach of security, a group of House Republicans stormed a secure location in the Capitol where the impeachment inquiry is underway in an attempt to distract from the incredibly damaging revelations about President Trump.

It was a political stunt, pure and simple, that showed the complete lack of respect they have for protecting our national security.

Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor was also deposed this week. I sat through his deposition and his testimony was credible, detailed, and devastating to the President. The Ambassador provided powerful evidence of Donald Trump’s betrayal of his oath of office and his undermining of our national security. His sworn testimony revealed an elaborate scheme to leverage foreign assistance to help the President’s reelection campaign.

And all of this is on top of Trump calling the Emoluments Clause “phony” (it’s a core tenant of the Constitution) and the impeachment inquiry a “lynching” (an obscene comparison that belittles the history of lynching and white supremacy in this country).

And yet, despite all the noise, the facts remain: Multiple witnesses have corroborated that the President and his cronies extorted Ukraine in an effort to get them to help with the Trump reelection campaign. They got caught, they confessed, and we will hold them accountable. No one, including the President of the United States, is above the law.
