Dear friend, Today, as we mark Indigenous Peoples' Day, I'm grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the diversity and rich history of Indigenous Americans -- and am dedicated to fighting against the systemic discrimination Native communities continue to face. New York City is home to a large and diverse community of Indigenous Americans. Their contributions to our schools, neighborhoods, and small businesses are immense, and our City is better for it. But despite the significant strides we’ve seen towards justice, Native communities continue to face education, healthcare, and economic discrimination. I’m so grateful for the courage and dedication of the Indigenous leaders who are leading the fight against this ongoing harm -- and I’m looking to them as we continue this work. Today and every day we must stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
