For five blissful hours on Monday, Facebook was down. It was their greatest contribution to the health and safety of our country in a long time.
Team,
After much hemming and hawing on Republicans’ part, the Senate finally voted to raise the debt ceiling Thursday night, avoiding major financial calamity for our economy...for the time being.
The problem is this, friends: the temporary increase to the debt ceiling that passed last night will only sustain us through the first week of December. Republicans have effectively kicked the can down the road, and we’re going to have to do this all over again in just a few months.
What McConnell and the GOP conveniently fail to realize is that raising the debt ceiling is about paying the debts that they incurred under Trump. Once again, Republicans have made it quite clear that they refuse to take responsibility for the financial decisions they made while in the majority, like giving a $1.9 trillion tax cut to the wealthy.
There’s no telling how the negotiations in December will go, but one thing is clear: failing to raise the debt ceiling is not an option. It would cripple our economy and our nation. Republicans know this, but they don’t care. The GOP is willing to play politics with the future of our economy at stake.

We need to make sure that Republicans know where the American people stand when the debt ceiling inevitably needs to be raised again come December. Democrats will once again do the responsible thing and raise the debt ceiling, but we need to send a clear message to Republicans here: raising the debt ceiling is popular with voters, and it’s critical to the health of our economy.
