Team,

For five blissful hours on Monday, Facebook was down. It was their greatest contribution to the health and safety of our country in a long time.

The website crash comes at a time when more information is being revealed publicly about the intentional choices the company makes to put profit over people. A company whistleblower has just revealed how the algorithm intentionally creates conflict in users to drive engagement and maximize profit.

Big tech has shown time and time again they aren’t responsible, which is why I’ve been working hard in Congress to hold them accountable. Will you chip in today so we can reign in Big Tech?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Facebook is a monopoly with monopoly power. It dominates an industry that has tremendous influence over our lives and for too long has operated without regulation.

We’re going to change that. We’re working hard to pass legislation that will break up Facebook’s monopoly and keep their activities in check to create a safe and equitable internet for all.

Will you join my movement against Big Tech behemoths like Facebook by chipping in today? Only our grassroots power can match their massive wealth.

Thank you for your support,
David Cicilline
