Yesterday, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas granted an injunction to temporarily block Texas’ SB 8—the vigilante-enforced ban on abortion care.

The decision is an important step in the right direction, but is in no way a solution to Texas’ unconstitutional ban on abortion. We need a permanent legislative solution, like the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), that safeguards the legal right to abortion throughout the country. But this critical legislation faces an uphill battle for approval in the Senate.
