Friend, Governor Kim Reynolds is headed to the US-Mexico border for a political stunt to drum up support from her far-right base. Unfortunately, it's exactly what we've come to expect from her. Her administration already wasted $300,000 deploying Iowa State Patrol to the border, and she's publicly supporting a school board candidate who is part of a group sending death threats to local elected officials over COVID-19 precautions in schools. Take a look:
It's gotten so bad that Attorney General Merrick Garland was forced to involve the FBI. He said in a recent memo that "these threats are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation’s core values." We couldn't agree more -- this isn't the Iowa we know, and it doesn't have to be like this. Kim Reynolds is playing to her far-right base while Iowans suffer. It's not time for our grassroots campaign to face off with her at the ballot box just yet, but we can still have an impact on this right now. That's why we're asking: Will you call on Governor Reynolds to cancel her trip to the US-Mexico border? Iowans need a leader who puts them first, not someone who panders to the furthest right-wing of her party.
Together, we can make our voices heard. Team Ras HQ
