Commercial Fleet Operators Eye Advantages of Electric Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Electric_Bus_Trucks-300AEE has published a fact sheet outlining the benefits that private and public fleet operators see in electric vehicles (EVs), and why they are beginning to incorporate them into their medium- and heavy-duty vehicle (MDV and HDV) portfolios. While much industry focus has been on the consumer auto and light-duty markets, new electric bus and truck models are gaining the attention of commercial, municipal, and state fleet operators for their cost and operational benefits. AEE's Electrifying Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles fact sheet presents an overview of the advantages of electric MDVs and HDVs, for both vehicle owners and the public companies. "As commercial and industrial fleet operators, along with state and local governments, eye the long-term benefits of electric buses and trucks, we are seeing the beginning of significant adoption," said AEE Managing Director Matt Stanberry. "Lower fuel and maintenance costs, significant operational capabilities, and quieter rides give electric buses and trucks a leg up for fleet owners, while offering air quality and economic benefits for the wider public. Electrification of segments of bus and truck transportation could come as fast as electric cars, if not faster.”  Continue reading press statement here or download the fact sheet by clicking below.>

ADVANCED INDUSTRY: Industrial Energy Management Systems Drive U.S. Growth, Lead Toward Industrial Internet of Things

Market Report Series - Industry-300This is one in a series of excerpts from the Advanced Energy Now 2019 Market Report, prepared for AEE by Navigant Research.

Advanced Industry, the sixth largest advanced energy segment both globally and domestically, contains two subsegments: Manufacturing Machinery and Process Equipment and Industrial Combined Heat and Power (CHP). Manufacturing Machinery and Process Equipment is tracked through sales of industrial energy management systems, which are software and services for energy management within an industrial facility or across an enterprise to meet efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability targets while maintaining optimal operation of production processes. Global Advanced Industry revenue reached $54.5 billion in 2018, a 12% increase over 2017, building on 11% growth the year before. This is an acceleration over previous years of steady growth driven by the expansion of manufacturing machinery and process equipment caused by increased global production and the adoption of advanced technology in industrial processes. Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for global Advanced Industry revenue over the 2011-18 period was 9%. Growth in U.S. revenue was even greater over the period since 2011, more than doubling in that time, with CAGR of 12%, but essentially flat in 2018.
