Dear John,

Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh want to get into your bank account.

Are you prepared to give them the password?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came up short on election night by failing to win a majority government and that means he must rely on other parties to get his way.

If this minority government looks anything like the last one, Trudeau will depend on Jagmeet Singh’s NDP to stay in power.

Singh says imposing a wealth tax on Canadians will be his top priority.

You can’t let Trudeau and Singh impose a wealth tax on Canadians. You need to tell them to keep their hands off your bank account, savings, home and other assets.

There are so many reasons to worry about wealth taxes.

Here are just three of them:
1. Wealth taxes won’t just soak the rich. Politicians claim they’ll only tax the wealthy, but when they need more money politicians always come after everyday taxpayers. That’s what’s happened with wealth taxes in other countries. And income taxes started out targeting the wealthy. What do you think will happen with wealth taxes?

2. Wealth taxes will put farmers in the crosshairs. Wealth taxes are actually asset taxes. Farmers don’t always have much cash, but they depend on assets like land and machinery to make a living. A wealth tax would hit farmers based on their assets even if their cashflow is crushed by crop failures.

3. Trudeau and Singh would spend through wealth tax revenue in a week. After that, they’ll have to think of other taxes to raise to pay for their outlandish spending plans. If you don’t force them to find savings, they’ll raid your bank account next.

A wealth tax would take a wrecking ball to the Canadian economy and hurt everyday taxpayers like you.

You need to make sure Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh don’t impose a wealth tax on Canadians.

Could you sign our petition against introducing wealth taxes in Canada?
