The reconciliation package, the Senate Parliamentarian role, the President's Build Back Better legislation: All of these very complicated words are being thrown around, and politics is in full swing in DC.
What does all of that mean for us? Folks, take a look at this picture that I posted that went viral over the weekend. What do you see? It should be common sense on a road that desperately needs repair.
That is it; that is what we are fighting for.
I want you to imagine for one second that your children are getting picked up by the school bus, and the road they take to school looks like this. Do you feel comfortable with that image? That is the reality we here in WV face daily, and it's not just here in West Virginia. Our nation's infrastructure is crumbling.
China has about 23,500 miles of high-speed rail, and we have almost none! President Obama tried to get Congress to invest in a high-speed rail, and he was blocked every step of the way by an obstructionist Republican Party.
For four straight years, President Trump kept bragging about an infrastructure plan and how he was the best builder, and he did not even propose legislation once during his regrettable term in office. Meanwhile, on day one, President Biden laid it all out for us, and he is determined to get a deal done.
How can we help?
We need to understand the reality that the President faces an uphill battle, the Senators Manchin and Sinema are wrong on this and many other issues. They are holding the President, our party, and the entire country hostage.
What we need to do now is send a message to Manchin, Sinema, and anyone else thinking of opposing President Biden's agenda. The American people overwhelmingly support the President's agenda. Either get on board, or we will find someone that will.
