Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 33 | October 3rd, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear John, The New York Republican Party brought our fight against Kathy Hochul's disastrous and illegal vaccine mandate on the road, first to Manhattan and then to Rochester. Our message was simple: we stand with the New Yorkers who are being targeted and bullied by this outrageous government overreach. The very same heroes who just months ago were being celebrated and honored all across this state are now being told to get a shot or get a pink slip. Hochul is not even allowing the same test-out option that she is affording her own staff or taking into consideration natural immunity. Because of this, we now have a crippling staffing crisis of the Governor's own making. Hospitals are warning of dire consequences as they are turning away ambulances and shuttering services. Hochul's plan is to send in the National Guard and foreign workers to cover for fired medical personnel, which won't be enough, and expends valuable state resources and tax dollars for a problem that didn't need to exist. Republicans will continue to stand for the freedom of choice and with our brave, frontline workers who continue to put their lives on the line to keep New Yorkers safe. On top of the incompetence coming out of Hochul's administration, she continues to stack her team with "defund the police" radicals. Just last week she appointed another NYC socialist who advocated for defunding the NYPD and other extreme policies to a top-level position in her administration. She’s so desperate to stave off a Democrat primary, she’s gone full AOC. Meanwhile, in NYC, we are seeing a deteriorating and dangerous situation at Rikers Island as a result of understaffed and overworked corrections officers, as well as crime levels not seen in decades. Our mission to elect Republicans this November and in 2022 is more crucial than ever...your safety and your freedom depend on it. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman Question of the Week: Question: From Douglas: What is the Republican Party's position on the proposals that are on the ballot this November? Answer: Great question, Douglas! We encourage New Yorkers to VOTE NO on ballot proposals 1-4. Proposals 1, 3, and 4 are just more Democrat attempts to take over our elections, weaken independent redistricting, and invite fraud and abuse into our elections. Proposal 2, which sounds great--who doesn't want to guarantee the right to clean air and water?--but is written in dangerously vague language that will be a boon for trial lawyers and leave interpretation up to radicals on the courts. We have thousands of laws and regulations on the books that regulate clean air and water and this is an unnecessary change to our state constitution. Chairman Langworthy wants to hear from you! Hochul to rescind ‘crippling’ health care vaccine mandate WROC New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy held a press conference at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester Wednesday afternoon where he criticized the state’s vaccine mandate for health care workers. The vaccine mandate went into effect Monday, despite a legal battle over religious exemptions still playing out in the courts. “We are in a health care crisis and it was created directly by Kathy Hochul,” Langworthy said. “This is a manufactured crisis that was completely preventable. Hochul’s vaccine mandate is impractical, nonsensible, and it is crippling our state’s health care system.” Watch Full Here Hochul prepares for health care worker shortages as vaccine mandate goes into effect Spectrum NY1 Critics say forcing workers to choose between getting vaccinated or losing their careers is too heavy handed, and that more exemptions should be allowed. “I think it’s a bully tactic that Kathy Hochul used,” said Nick Langworthy, the Republican state chairman. “And she has given zero flexibility to people who have dedicated their lives to the service of others. We’ve come a long way from a ticker tape parade in the Canyon of Heroes to now where it is take a vaccine or lose your job.” The directive for mandatory vaccinations was initiated by Hochul’s predecessor, Andrew Cuomo, last month. But rather than delay or modify it, even with potential staff shortages, Hochul opted to go forward with it, keeping that aspect of vaccination policy consistent. Read Full Here Second Hochul appointee is an AOC-backed pol who wants to defund NYPD New York Post Nick Langworthy, the state’s GOP chair, blasted Bagga’s appointment. “In a month’s time, Kathy Hochul has stacked the top levels of her administration with extreme radicals and paved the way for thousands of criminals to be released from jail. She’s so desperate to stave off a primary, she’s gone full AOC,” Langworthy said. Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who plans to challenge Hochul in the general election, said, “With the appointment of Amit Bagga, Kathy Hochul continues her mission to fill the ranks of her administration with those who want to defund, disband, dismantle or abolish law enforcement, surrender our communities’ streets to criminals and sacrifice the safety of everyday New Yorkers and their families.” Read Full Here New York’s redistricting tests Democratic opposition to gerrymandering The Washington Post Republicans are readying for a legal fight, presuming the maps will be drawn exclusively by the Democrats. “Democrats have no interest in negotiating in good faith as evidenced by their Party’s leader Kathy Hochul’s comments she intends to gerrymander Democrats into power,” Nick Langworthy, the GOP state chairman, said in a written statement. “They are going to stonewall and drag this process out hoping New Yorkers aren’t paying attention so partisan legislators can draw their own maps. We intend to employ every legal and political tool in our arsenal to stop them and ensure New Yorkers are fairly represented.” National Republicans are also crying foul over the specter of New York gerrymandering. “They want the commission to fail so they have the opportunity to gerrymander the state,” said Adam Kincaid, executive director of the National Republican Redistricting Trust, which supports GOP interests in redistricting. Read Full Here Churchill: Vaccine mandate may do more harm than good Times Union This is progress? It sure doesn't look like it. Instead, the mandate looks more like a symbol of our pandemic frustrations and our desire to punish the unvaccinated, who, as the governor kindly reminded us, aren't listening to God. Given the paucity of evidence showing that unvaccinated hospital workers are even responsible for spreading the virus, this looks like an unnecessary emergency born of the state's inflexibility. So thousands of health care workers, heroes of the pandemic, are set to lose their jobs and won't even be eligible for unemployment insurance. And if you have a surgery coming up or a baby on the way, well, you might have to wait. Read Full Here Ready to take back our state? Contribute today!
