Because I'm a black Haitian-American. But I believe the Republican Party is the reason I've been able to live my American Dream.

about
Fellow American,

Never believe the Left’s narrative that America is a racist country; that the American dream doesn’t exist anymore; or that the Constitution is a relic of the past that disproportionately benefits Anglo Americans.

I’m speaking with authority on the matter: I’m a first generation Haitian-American whose parents came to this country, quite literally penniless, to pick crops in South Florida during the 1980s. Now, less than forty years after my parents experienced food insecurity and homelessness, I’m running for Congress – as a Republican. I guess you could say that I don’t fit the Left’s definition of a conservative.

My name is Rod Dorilas and I’d like to tell you a few important things about me and why I’m writing to you today.
  • I’m a military veteran (I joined at 17),
  • I’m a lawyer (I utilized the GI bill to pay for law school)
  • I’m a former Trump Administration appointee, having held various jobs during the four years President Trump held office.
The thing I’m most proud about? My family built our own American Dream without the help of the government, or left-wing socialist politicians. And I’m running for Congress because some folks in DC just don’t understand that the government is not going to help make individuals successful – grit, determination and personal responsibility are keys to success.

In his 1967 inaugural address as Governor of California, Ronald Reagan said, “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” Coming from an immigrant family, I believe it’s my responsibility to fight to make sure that people in this country know how precious freedom – and the United States – truly is.

I’m asking you to continue reading the rest of this email, but if you cannot, please consider chipping in whatever you can spare to my campaign today. I’ve accomplished a lot in my short career, but I’m not independently wealthy and can’t fund my own campaign. I know I would be an effective voice for our party – I just need to make sure people in my district know who I am and what I stand for.

Every morning that I read the news, it’s more doom and gloom. No one talks about the American Dream anymore. But, my parents and I are living proof that it still exists – and will continue to exist for future generations of immigrants and native-born Americans alike if we wake up to the dangers posed by socialism NOW. That is going to take hard work on all of our parts.

I know a thing or two about hard work, which I believe is one of the key characteristics missing in the folks representing us in Congress today. I wasn’t happy with the high school I would have had to attend based off my parents address, so I traveled via public train and bus every day to attend one of my choice. Having the option to attend a high school of my own choosing enabled me to become the man I am today.

I’d love to know where else in the world, immigrants from one of the Earth’s poorest nations could rise from homelessness and become successful business owners in a matter of two decades. All the while, raising their children with such success that one of them decides to seek federal office.

Rising from poverty in Haiti to the middle class in South Florida wasn’t quick or easy, but what is worth having in life that is easy? I learned from my parents that hard work and grit – along with perseverance – pays dividends. Yet today, many Americans would rather depend on government handouts.

If you’ve found this email inspiring on any level, would you please consider a contribution to my campaign for Congress today? I don’t believe in handouts of any kind, but I won’t be able to do anything about the ones that exist – or stop new entitlements – without first making my way to Congress.

ABOUT ROD

Rod Dorilás is the first-generation son of two immigrants from Haiti. His father immigrated to Florida to pick crops, and eventually his parents went on to own a small business. From a young age, his parents instilled in him the importance of hard work, integrity, and service.

At age 17, Rod enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for six years as a Petty Officer Second Class and Assistant Engagement Control Officer onboard the USS The Sullivans, stationed in Jacksonville. There, he was responsible for planning and executing the deployment of Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles on the Ballistic Missile Defense destroyer.

Upon completion of his military service, Rod attended law school at Syracuse University with the help of the G.I. Bill. After graduating, he served in President Trump's Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce. While serving our great nation, Rod fought tirelessly to ensure that American families and businesses weren't taken advantage of by China.

Rod is a true public servant and is dedicated to serving his country and community. He wants to ensure that every American, through hard work and perseverance, can achieve the American Dream. Rod is running for Congress in South Florida to continue Trump's America First Agenda and defend our country from the Radical Left.

Will you stand with Rod?
